DAVID D. CLARK

David D. Clark, FACHE, joined the Intermountain Healthcare Urban South Region in November 2001. He is the regional vice president/CEO for Intermountain Healthcare Urban South Region, and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the region, consisting of three hospitals and other related services. As RVP/CEO, he has leadership responsibilities for hospitals, clinics, physician services, and health plans/insurance in the region. David serves as the liaison between the region and the senior management team at Intermountain Healthcare’s Central Office. Prior to his experiences with Intermountain Healthcare, Clark was with a six-hospital, non-profit regional health system in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he served as senior vice president and chief administrative officer.

David graduated from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management with a B.S. degree in finance, and from Texas Tech University with an MBA in health organization management. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

With over 19 years of progressively responsible health care management experience, Clark’s work experience includes four separate hospital administrator positions ranging from administrator/CEO of a 50-bed rural hospital in Crosbyton, Texas to vice president and administrator of a 432-bed tertiary care hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. In his current position as chief executive officer of a 550-bed regional system (three hospitals), David reports to the executive vice president of Intermountain Healthcare as well as the Urban South Region governing board, comprised of local, volunteer trustees in Utah County.

Clark served on the Texas Hospital Association Board of Trustees from 1996 through 1999. He has served on two different ACHE Regent’s Advisory Councils: one in Lubbock and one in Austin. He was awarded a 1994 Up and Comer Award by Modern Healthcare magazine, recognized by ACHE with the Regent’s Early Careerist Award in 1996 and was nominated by the THA president for The Healthcare Forum’s Emerging Leaders in Healthcare Award in 1998. In June of 2001, Mr. Clark and a few other Spohn executives were awarded the CHRISTUS Health Touchstone Award for excellence in labor productivity management; the first award of its kind wherein 32 CHRISTUS Health hospitals competed for system best practices awards in the following categories: service excellence, clinical outcomes, business literacy and community value.

David Clark’s civic and community involvement past and present includes membership on various boards including the Volunteer Care Clinic of Provo, United Way of Utah County, and the UVSC Community Outreach Council. He has also served on boards relating to the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce, American Heart Association, YMCA, Boy Scouts of America and American Cancer Society. David and his wife, Dodie, are the parents of four children. They live in Provo.
